The perfusion, concentration and excretion functions of the kidney are evaluated. Also, the comparative (split) renal functions may be assessed. Two hours before the test, children should drink as much water as they can (11.5 liters of water for older children, as much milk, mama as they can get for smaller ones). A catheter can be inserted in order to empty the bladder. Some medication as diuretics can be given during the procedure and it lasts about 40 minutes.
