Urology at the UMCG
The University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) is one of the largest hospitals in The Netherlands and responsible for delivering highly specialised care to a region of over 3 million people. The department of urology focusses on complex cases and has 4 areas of expertise: interventional urology, oncology, reconstructive urology and functional urology. Paediatric urology is considered to be embedded in all 4 areas, mainly the latter 2 areas of expertise. The department is staffed by 8 urologists and 1-2 fellows. There is a very modern outpatient facility and a state of the art intervention center opened in 2017.
Children are treated at the Beatrix Children’s Hospital which is an in-house paediatric hospital.
The department of urology is a training facility for medical students, PhD student and residents in urology. The UMCG has a paediatric urology training programme certified by the EAPU/JCPU, eligible for the Fellow of the European Academy of Paediatric Urology (FEAPU) exams.
We are looking for a urologist who is FEAPU certified or willing to be trained, and also has a strong interest in adolescent / adult reconstructive urology and functional urology. Key areas of work will be congenital malformations from neonate into adulthood, genital surgery, prosthesiology, urinary tract reconstruction, neurogenic bladder and genderdysphoria.
As our new colleague you will participate in clinical duties as well as training of students, nurses and residents. You will be facilitated in doing clinical research. You are flexible and a team player. For non-native Dutch speakers, training in the Dutch language can be provided. You will take part in on call duties once fully trained.
The position is for 1 year, with the possibility of a permanent contract afterwards.
