EC Webinar - Management of kidney stone with suction devices: PCNL vs RIRS
Tuesday 28 April 2026, 20:00 - 21:00

For a long time, surgeons have approached kidney stone treatment in what resembles a “snow globe” scenario: lasers are used to fragment the stones, but the resulting cloud of dust and debris can obscure the operative field, making it challenging to verify complete stone clearance. More recently, a significant advancement has emerged in kidney stone surgery with the adoption of suction sheaths in both Flexible Ureteroscopy (fURS) and Percutaneous Nephrolith otomy (PCNL). In contrast to traditional rigid access tubes, these devices allow surgeons to break stones into very fine particles using high-power lasers and at the same time actively aspirate the stone dust from the kidney. Two experts in the treatment of kidney stones will explain the pros and cons of these new devices.

  • Speakers: Alfredo Berrettini - Ali Sezer
  • Moderators: Alex Turner - Sibel Tiryaki
  • Back-up Technicians: Uschi Tonnhofer - Marie Andersson
