Dear friends and colleagues
Once again, we have the great pleasure of inviting urologists, pediatric urologists, and pediatric surgeons to Aarhus to attend the XXVIth annual practical course in Robotic/Laparoscopic Urology.
This event will be the 26th annual course, with continuous innovations in both concept and technology. Based on outstanding evaluations from previous participants worldwide, using the UEMS™ form, this course has become a must-attend event.
Many of your colleagues and leaders have attended before.
As in previous years, we will focus on surgical tips and tricks with special emphasis on complications. As laparoscopy and robotics are now widely used at most centers, and is applied into conventional practice, it is invariable to address some of the unintended consequences: Complications
The course addresses both specialists, fellows in urology/paediatric urology/surgery and residents in training.
Proctoring and training will focus on robotic & laparoscopic surgical techniques with special emphasis on complications. It is mostly a practical urologic laparoscopic training course on pigs – something always extremely well received by the participants. We have assembled a renowned and experienced faculty of Scandinavian and European conventional and robotic laparoscopists to demonstrate, supervise and lecture on topics including:
- Pathophysiology of laparoscopy
- Mechanical and technical complications
- Troubleshooting
- Haemorrhage
- Organ specific injury and lesions
- Perioperative complications
- Convert vs. continue
All backed up by real-time animal lab-simulated catastrophes and clinical scenarios where possible.
Participants will get the chance to brush up on their urological laparoscopic skills, including black box training, trans-/retroperitoneal access to the kidneys, ureter, intracorporeal suturing techniques, pyeloplasty, ureter reimplantation/bladder surgery and heminephrectomy/partial nephrectomy.
The number of participants in the animal lab is limited to 18, with 2 (-3) participants and one faculty member per pig.
Be aware: This is a practical course with at least 14 hours of hands-on-training! You will have the option to train with the DaVinci X™ simulator and the DaVinci X™ model on pigs.
The course is now in its 26th year and is aimed at urologists and paediatric urologists/surgeons at any level of training: complications are not only specific to the novice but also occur to the expert who might become more daring and expands his/her territory, pushing the limits.
And remember: There are two types of surgeons – those who have complications….and the liars.
