Dear members of the ESPU-Nurse group,

By this letter I wish you all a new, eventful year, 2008. I also hope that you had a great Christmas and a lot of time with your family and friends.

At the end of November the ESPUN board was having their meeting in Bremen. During two days we made up plans for our next meeting in Nice.  The program is published at the website and all presenters have been informed.

For this year’s meeting there were 35 submitted abstracts. The board accepted 21 abstracts; 19 were accepted as oral presentations and 2 for poster presentations. The abstracts were reviewed anonymously regarding their quality and its originality. The result was 4 sessions; bladder exstrophy, dysfunctional voiding, clinical practice and other categories. Two nurses will be the chairpersons at each session.

Since the evaluation of the workshops earlier has been very positive indicating that a lot of you appreciated this way to exchange experiences - we now will arrange two different workshops; one about CIC moderated by Sonja Kruse, Sweden and one about setting guidelines to manage urine samples moderated by Katty Van Cauvenberghe, Belgium and Sue Vernon, UK. Further, three thesis’ will be presented briefly and the “Research school” is about how to write an abstract.

No one has applied for the scholarship for nurses yet. The scholarship was established in order to encourage exchange program for nurses in different countries. It is really a pity if no one would like to use this opportunity. Do not hesitate to apply or to encourage someone else of your colleagues.  

Now it’s time to register for our coming meeting in Nice, last date for the lower “early registration” fee is January 31. As a member you will also benefit for a lower registration fee. Do not forget to register for the language course which does not cost you anything - if you register and attend.
